LAUDERDALE LAKES --
When I met Department of Justice Special Agent Matthew McCloskey this past February in my Boca Raton office, his first question to me was, “is it true she stole 245 gallons of paint.”
Ha!
I broke out in a big belly full of laughter.
“Really,” I said. “The Federal Government knows Sylvia Poitier swiped some paint? That’s pretty damn funny. Well, the truth is, she only nicked 225 gallons.”
“We also noticed, when speaking one-time before the Commission, you leaned over and said something off-mike to her. What was that,” asked McCloskey.
“I told her the ‘number is 23’.”
“23,” inquired McCloskey.
“Yep. 23. That’s the number of complaints I had filed to date against her.”
Now it was McCloskey’s turn to laugh.
And so began my meeting with two Special Agents from the DOJ Office of Inspector General.
I’ve been quietly waiting nearly a year to tell this story, and in the upcoming days, I’ll share with all of you one heck of an amazing tale.
