The joke known as LeoAffairs.com (Comments)

COCONUT CREEK --
I’ve been in the IT business for nearly three decades, and have been around web development since its inception. When it comes to the WWW, I’m a stone cold expert. I counsel very large corporations, well known concerns, on how to build and deploy web based applications. I also help them understand how to do conduct their business in a virtual environment.
Back five years or so ago, companies were worried about their “online reputation.” You probably experienced this first hand … You’d visit a manufacturer’s website, checked out their product reviews, and all you ever read were “glowing reports.” Did you believe them? Did such puffery instill confidence? Or did you think to yourself, “The marketing fucks have taken over.”
That’s what’s happening at the Coconut Creek PD Leoaffairs.com forum. Some drone, at the behest of senior CCPD bigshots, has taken to “message management.” Comments that are deemed “unfavorable” are removed and/or edited, under the auspices of Terms of Service.
According to the TOS, comments/posts can be edited if:
- are unlawful, threatening, obscene, vulgar, pornographic, profane, or indecent, including any communication that constitutes (or encourages conduct that would constitute) a criminal offense, gives rise to civil liability, or otherwise violates any local, state, national, or international law;
- improperly assume or claim the identity, characteristics, or qualifications of another person;
- are libelous, or an invasion of privacy or publicity rights or any other third party rights; or
- are for commercial purposes or contain advertising or are intended to solicit a person to buy or sell services or to make donations
My post about Chief Mike Mann’s Stupidity on Facebook was seriously edited, Mann’s name removed and the link to my story deleted.
None of which, mind you, violates LeoAffairs’s TOS.
And remember, I know all about website’s TOS, hell I help write them.
But rest assured, this is actually good news. Well good news for me, and shitty news for the Mann’s of CC.
While my LeoAffairs posts might be nuked, those dickweeds can’t shut down MAOS. Oh, they might send send us a Cease and Desist (we’ve gotten them before and our answer is always the same, “eat me”), hoping to silence our criticism. However, what will happen is the word about MAOS will spread like wildfire. Folks around the CCPD station will talk about us, we’ll be the toast of the watercooler.
It’s all about the numbers.
Everyday, thousands and thousands come visit the blog — so regardless of what LeoAffairs does, it matters not. We’re here to stay.
Bend over and enjoy the moment.
