In random order, here’s a few emails that left our Outbox today.

Madam Clerk;

City of Lauderdale Lakes

When my courier came back from the first visit to Lauderdale Lakes complaining about the 1.5 hour wait for records, I was willing to overlook that fact as a one off event. Then yesterday, after wasting 30 minutes of my time waiting for records, I also wrote that off as more of City Manager Jonathan Allen‘s game playing. However, what I’ve find totally unacceptable is the fact that pages are missing from the documents that I spent my precious time acquiring.

From the MUNIS report dated 1/30/2012, pages 30-32 and 45-49 are missing. KEY PAGES I MIGHT ADD. Or is that subtract in this case? Either way … really… come on now. Therefore, I request these pages are immediately made available to me.  Perhaps even emailed.

Ma’am, I do not believe you are at fault here, as it’s my opinion the blame lies elsewhere.

Regarding that blame…

Please be advised I will be sending you a copy later today of the criminal complaint I’m filing with the SAO and Florida AG against Mr. Allen for his willful failure to comply with Florida Public Records law.

Unlike Allen, I don’t play games.

Evan Lukic, Auditor
Broward County

As you know, I’ve been closely following and researching the ongoing Lauderdale Lake issue(s). With that in mind, I’d be appreciative if you took a moment and answered the following questions.

  1. Although the LL FY12 budget looks on tract, are you aware of the cash flow issue that will start impacting before the end of the fiscal year?
  2. I have documented the $2.7M overstatement in the General Fund. Since the majority of property taxes and the SA for fire have been collected to date, did you look at projected cash flow till 30SEPT12 to see if City can handle the BSO contract?
  3. Did you note that Mayor Russell did not certify this report? Any comments as to this fact?
  4. In your backup, you mention receiving a cash flow analysis from the City. Can you provide me with a copy of that report? If you would like, I can provide a copy of our own version of the analysis. I am willing to bet they will be different (as the BP has no motivation to cook the books).
  5. The 11JAN12 City letter only reflected a $1.2m carryforward GF cash balance. In February, it’s double that. Given the fact the LL Finance Director has no previous experience as a FD and her glaring accounting mistakes on previous reports is well documented, why should the BC taxpayer feel comfortable here?  I’d be more than happy to provide the evidence indicating the $1.2M is SA cash and not GF money.
  6. Were your recent comments in the press taken out of context? Do you believe that the next three months look okay? Or the entire remainder of the year is a rosy outlook?
