04 Mar MAOS is different. It’s something very special.

As far as blog content goes, we’ve seen much better. Our investigative reporting doesn’t equal that of Tom Francis (former New Times reporter). And the website itself, an ongoing experiment of UI/UX design, is a work in progress. You should also take into consideration the MAOS approach of both making the news and then reporting on it (ourselves)  — an anathema to old school journalists.

We admittedly don’t excel at any one thing, perhaps better than average on occasions, but certainly not excellent.

However, when you combine it all together (reporting, IT, activism, media, press), its gestalt if you will, there’s nothing else like MAOS in the world. And there’s where we’re something special.

From MAOS’s humble beginnings back in 2006/7, we’ve made some powerful enemies, and friends for that matter, along the way.

In 2013, we can add Gov. Rick Scott to the list of folks paying attention to us.

Senior Legislative Assistant to Senator Jeremy Ring
District 29

Currently, the city of Lauderdale Lakes is undergoing an extensive audit of all budgets including the general budget and the CRA budget by an outside CPA firm at the request of the governor. The report is to be released by the auditor general at the end of March and a copy provided to the Joint Legislative Auditing Committee.

At this time, we haven’t been approached by Ron Book regarding any issues with the City of Lauderdale Lakes.

It would be prudent to wait for that report and at that point if it is insufficient  the committee could order an additional audit of the city and their finances.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention, we will continue to monitor it and work with all interested parties. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
