Watch Poitier bluff and bluster. Afraid of someone who doesn't believe in God. Wants to make that someone official city business. That someone is me of of course - Chaz Stevens, Genius and now Chaz Stevens, Genius, Atheist, and Agenda Item.
From the Deerfield Beach 3-3-09 Commission Meeting comes this following nugget. Watch Commissioner Battle not declare any conflict of interest with regards to the Haitian American Consortium as she votes to approve $12,206 in funding to herself.
Kessler International, in the form of Mike and Doug, has arrived in our quaint shire. Those two doods are standing ready to peel apart the onion and take down any bad guys that need taking down (codename: Poitier).
My friends... This action is the direct result and culmination of one year of my work. Made no two bones about it. Kessler is here because of me. While Burgess Hanson showed a boatload of courage to push this through, it would not be on anyone's radar if if wasn't for me. And me alone.
Not the ROC. Or the twat (either of them). Or the washed up legal society. Or the Sons of Bitches. Or Miller. Tauber. Chalker. Adams. Tommy. None of them.
Not any of our elected officials. Past or present.
This is my fucking moment and I won't ever let you forget it.
So, as is the case when we are celebrating around here, I turn to Matt Johnson and The The with their song The Beat(en) Generation.
The Beat(en) Generation
When you cast your eyes upon the skylines Of this once proud nation Can you sense the fear and the hatred Growing in the hearts of its population
And our youth, oh youth, are being seduced by the greedy hands of politics and half truths
The beaten generation, the beaten generation Reared on a diet of prejudice and mis-information The beaten generation, the beaten generation Open your eyes, open your imagination
We're being sedated by the gasoline fumes and hypnotised by the satellites Into believing what is good and what is right
You may be worshipping the temples of mammon Or lost in the prisons of religion But can you still walk back to happiness When you've nowhere left to run?
And if they send in the special police To deliver us from liberty and keep us from peace
Then won't the words sit ill upon their tongues when they tell us justice is being done and that freedom lives in the barrels of a warm gun
Friend of the blog and intrepid NewTimes reporter Tom Francis today had this to say,
Gloria Battle, an ally of Deerfield Beach Vice Mayor Sylvia Poitier, may have committed a crime by voting to authorize more than $12,000 in funding to the Haitian American Consortium, a nonprofit corporation for which she is the secretary.
Based on a post by city activist Chaz Stevens on his blog, My Acts of Sedition, it appears Battle got a $250 check from the consortium on December 12, 2008. The next month, January 2009, Battle was nominated by Poitier, then appointed to fill one of the empty places on the commission after the corruption-related suspensions of Mayor Al Capellini and Commissioner Steve Gonot.
When you hear the word "rico", what's the first thing that comes to mind? Is it:
Geraldo's 90's rap hit "Rico Suave".
The Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (commonly referred to as RICO Act or RICO) is a United States federal law that provides for extended criminal penalties and a civil cause of action for acts performed as part of an ongoing criminal organization.
Before you answer, let me give you this hint... Pretend you are Sylvia Poitier for the moment.
I am writing to you today to ask that you demand Gloria Battle's
removal from the "blue ribbon" ethics review panel. Immediately.
Regardless of where in the process that panel is at the moment. Battle
needs to be gone...
Now let me tell you why:
The last person that was "forcibly" removed from a citizen board
was Sexting Expert Brad Chalker - FYI - due to his illegal retrieval
of my personal information. So removing Battle for my allegations is just as, if not more serious.
What would it say about our ethics review process if a blue ribbon member
was under review for, at a minimum I remind you, an ethics violation?
Deerfield is slowly coming to realize the phrases "enough is
enough" and "no means no".
See Joe, here's the deal. It's about timing.
Right now, you are aware of Battle's vote. She still sits on the
review board. If she is allowed to continue, then you are consciously
ignoring this issue. And what does that say about your ethics?
Battle serves at the pleasure of the Commission, not at the pleasure
of a particular Commissioner. I hope that you understand that.
Also, it seems, that your voice mail system must be automatically
erasing my messages. I've left a couple and haven't heard back from
you.
Friend of the blog, Jessica W. took a couple hours out of her life to get her toes done. Just for us. Well, really just for me, but I'm a sharing kind of guy.
Broward State Attorney Office 201 Southeast 6th Street Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301 Attention: Timothy Donnelly, Assistant State Attorney Public Corruption Unit
Dear Sir:
I hereby file a complaint with your office against former Commissioner Gloria Battle of Deerfield Beach, Florida alleging the following:
In willful and corrupt violation of Florida Statute 838.016 Unlawful Compensation for Official Behavior, former Commissioner Gloria Battle intentionally failed to disclose her conflict of interest by voting to approve $12,208.00 in funding for the Haitian American Consortium, which allowed Commissioner Battle to realize a special private gain.
In willful and corrupt violation of Florida Statute 112.3143 Voting Conflicts, former Commissioner Gloria Battle intentionally failed to disclose her conflict of interest by voting to approve $12,208.00 in funding for the Haitian American Consortium, which allowed Commissioner Battle to realize a special private gain.
A conspiratorial enterprise exists between Vice Mayor Sylvia Poitier, former Commissioner Gloria Battle, and others to defraud the citizens of Deerfield Beach and the United States taxpayer at large.
I respectfully request that you thoroughly investigate my allegations.
Chaz Stevens

Hey folks. Good evening. I originally wrote a bunch of preamble snarky commentary, but I decided to go with the facts. The plain and simple facts. I’ll let you draw your own conclusion.
December 10, 2008 Commissioner Steve Gonot is arrested for felony mischief and resigns his seat.
December 11, 2008 Mayor Al Capellini is arrested for felony mischief and doesn’t resign his seat.
December 11, 2008 Chaz Stevens Day is internationally recognized. Stevens’ proclaims:
"I hereby, now and forever, proclaim the Eleventh of December as Chaz Stevens Day. And what does that mean to you exactly? Beer, lobster, shots and hookers are on your tab all day long."
December 12, 2008 The Haitian American Consortium (HAC) cuts a check in the amount of $250.00, payable to Gloria Battle, who according to these Sunbiz filings, is the Secretary for the HAC. She's been in that position since the organization's inception.
December 15, 2008 Governor Charlie Crist throws Capellini out on his ass.
January 13, 2009 Needing to fill the seats vacated by two elected tossed out of office officials and by an unlucky pick of the draw, the City of Deerfield Beach appoints Battle as acting Commissioner for District 2.
March 3, 2009 Content Agenda Item #6 (Resolution 2009-059) is presented to the Commission:
A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Deerfield Beach, Florida, approving CDBG Public Service Sub-Recipient Funding Recommendation. Total funding for this measure is $110,835.00 which includes $12,206.00 to the HAC.
Motion without discussion was passed 5-0 including a vote of YEA from Battle. Battle was still Secretary of the HAC. Resolution 2009/059 was signed into existence by Mayor Sylvia Poitier.
September 1, 2009 Motion was made establishing a Code of Ethics Ad Hoc Committee. Poitier appointed Battle to the committee. The resolution was passed 5-0.
Sidebar: Remember that Leonardo DiCaprio movie "Catch me if you can"? DiCaprio played the world's best counterfeiter who ulimately got caught and eventually hired by the FBI. Is it me or does Battle's appointment to the ethics review committee have a certain similar (cynical) appeal? In the end, the City put our best people at the table. A woman who couldn't fuck her way out of an ethics conundrum (Pam Militello) and a woman (Battle) who appears to be very ethically challenged and maybe even criminally liable.
Well, I lied. I was going to allow you to draw your own conclusions, but you’re liable to screw that up. So let me lend a hand.
Turning our attention back to the March 3, 2009 meeting, a couple of things I believed happened:
Battle’s vote clearly broke the law. She voted on an item has a direct fiduciary benefit to her and did not disclose any conflicts of interest statement.
We now need to really consider the RICO act against these folks. The HAC was formed using Poitier’s business as it’s registered address. Poitier got Battle on the dais. They both approved funding to that organization. Both worked to retune the local ethics ordinance.
I mean, come on man. What the fuck is going on here? How much more brazen do these people need to be before we all rise up and say enough is enough?
So, where do we go from here?
Simple. I am going to kick both of those gals right in the nuts. Harshly. Many many times over.
And how will I go about doing that?
Isn’t it obvious by now? Okay, let me paint you a picture.
A complaint will be filed with the FDLE, SAO, FBI, and DoJ
A not so anonymous tip will be sent to the folks at Kessler International
My buddies at the newspaper will be informed
Also, don’t hand me that bullshit about race. Battle and Poitier will use it as a deflection of their possible crimes. That would say everything about them and nothing about us. In fact, if you ask me, if they play the race card, they are actually insulting folks of color.
The gig is about up for those folks. As I have said all along…
The end is nigh. Dress accordingly.
PS
I sent a copy of this post to Armando Fana, Director of the Miami HUD office, with the following message;
Mr. Fana;
I will go out on a limb here, but I need to ask your forgiveness for former Commissioner Gloria Battle rudeness when she forgot to send her thanks for the $12,208.00 in your HUD money she approved to the Haitian American Consortium. I guess in her zeal to get the payola, she forgot her manners... Oh, and she forgot to tell anyone that she's the paid Secretary to that organization.
By the way, Battle is cousin (albeit it 3rd or 4th) to Commissioner Sylvia Poitier of the famed "we run our CHDO any damn way we please" crime family.
Respectfully.
